It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Margaret “Maggie” Fairweather, loving wife of Ron Fairweather which occurred suddenly on February 23, 2026. Maggie was born May 7th, 1957, in Saint John, NB.
Maggie enjoyed spending time with her family creating memories and sharing a good laugh. Most importantly she enjoyed everyday with the love of her life Ron and their loyal companion Jax. Jax will feel her void for sure. In her earlier years Maggie enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and of course, tanning.
Maggie was a hardworking, strong willed, loving person, who was very proud of her children, and will be missed by her husband of nearly 30 years. She will also be greatly missed by her children Shasta Fairweather (Jay), Matt Fairweather (Katie), stepchildren Tammy Loughery (Andrew) and Chrissy Perry (James). As well as her grandchildren Summer, Layla, Landon, Colsen, Taylor and Liam. Maggie will also be deeply missed by her family; Michael Harkiolakis (Doreen), Angelo Harkiolakis (Diane), John Harkiolakis (Nancy), Katrina Thorne (Cory), Rose Marie Stevens (Richard), Joanne Gallant-Dixon, and Michael Clarke. As well as several nieces and nephews and her best friend Wilma Williston (Andrew).
Maggie was predeceased by Rose Petty, Clements Dixon, Francis Dixon, Donald Dixon, John Dixon (Jackie), along with many others.
Maggie’s courageous battle started 25 years ago when she defied all odds and beat lung cancer, leaving her with one lung and additional medical complications throughout her life, rendering her a medical phenomenon. Her final wish has been fulfilled by being donated to Dalhousie Medical research in the hopes of helping others in the future.
As per Maggie’s wishes a private celebration of life will be held by her family. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so in Maggie’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society for lung cancer research.
