It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Brian Douglas Hayward, age 75, announce his passing, which occurred on March 1, 2026, in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Brian was a devoted son of the late Lloyd and Genevieve (Mascato) Hayward. He is now lovingly reunited with his beloved wife, Helen, whom he lost in 2024 after 51 years of marriage—a love marked by devotion, partnership, and countless dances side by side. Also welcoming him home is his twin brother, Russell, who predeceased him.
A humble man by nature, Brian cherished his family above all else. He was a proud and loving father to his son Tony (Rachel) Hayward, and a deeply devoted grandfather to Gavin (Maddy) and Clare (Shay), who brought him immense joy and pride. Brian is also survived by his brother Truman (Diane), along with special friends Lloyd Brown and Glenn Braydon, whose companionship meant so much to him.
Known to many through his work as a bodyman, Brian was respected for his skill, strong work ethic, and quiet integrity. An excellent carpenter and an avid hunter, he was a man who worked hard and lived fully. Whether building something with his hands or heading into the woods,
Brian will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humour, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His legacy lives on through the family and friends who were fortunate to know and love him.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, March 6th, from 2:00–4:00 PM in the Reception Area of Fundy Funeral Home. Words and Remembrances will be shared beginning at 3:00 PM.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to all who offer their love, support, and memories during this time.
