Betty Joan (Randon) Tait Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, our matriarch Betty Joan (Randon) Tait, who passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, just days after celebrating her 91st birthday, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 11, 1935, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Betty was the daughter of the late Harry Randon and Anna (Habeeb) Randon.

Betty held several positions throughout her life, but her favourite role was as a medical secretary for Dr. Evan Pugh and Dr. Omana John. She was the heart of the office, welcoming patients with warmth and compassion, easing worries with her humour and kindness. She took great pride in her work, valuing professionalism, dedication, and the lasting relationships she built.

A proud Lebanese woman with a vibrant spirit, Betty was known for her unmistakable presence and deep devotion to family. Her children were her greatest pride. She supported them wholeheartedly, sacrificed quietly, and celebrated every achievement as her own. She believed life’s greatest joys were found not in material things, but around a full table surrounded by family and friends.

Affectionately known as “Sittu” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were truly the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, playing, cooking, spoiling, and simply being together. Her love was constant, generous, and undeniable.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, William Tait; her brothers Dr. Michael (Chuck) Randon, Paul Randon, and Robert Randon; and her sister, Marilyn Calhoun. She is survived by her brother Danny Randon (Debbie), as well as many cousins especially her devoted cousin, Linda Marr.

She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her son, William Tait; her daughter, Arlene Moore (Donald); her cherished granddaughters, Emily Higgins (Stephen), Monica Moore (Corey Kingston), and Isabella Moore; and her precious great-grandsons, Spencer and Miles Higgins.

Betty leaves behind a family who adored her and will carry forward her legacy of love, generosity, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Though we mourn her absence deeply, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and rests now in eternal peace.
